Many Spanish teachers who teach at homeschool co-ops, elementary schools, or middle schools, do not have their own classrooms. So, I thought I would do a quick post on how you can QUICKLY set up a Spanish wall to use as a visual aid for your students.
If possible, arrive to the room 10 minutes early so you can quickly post. Be sure to have a supply of sticky-tac, masking tape, and push pins to be able to post according to where you will be allowed to do so, and which will allow you to take down quickly when you are done.
Post things like:
- large vocabulary flashcards that may aide in activities you do
- posters with general information like numbers, colors, alphabet, whatever you think will aid in the lessons you will be doing.
- cards with everyday language you want students to use in class, like “gracias”, “de nada”, “Repite por favor.”, “hola”, “adiós”, “perdóname”, etc. You can see mine in the pictures, OR write them on the board if you have one.
- I always write on the board: “¿Cómo se dice____?” = How do you say____?, so students can ask how to say things in Spanish.
- I always post commands flashcards because we do a lot of listening activities with them and then relate those verbs to infinitives and their conjugations.
- And, if you don’t have a board to write on, buy a large dry erase poster at a teacher supply store that you can put up. It works GREAT as a traveling dry erase/chalkboard.
