Students make verb and vocabulary flashcards when they use Spanish for You! because the process of creating each card is an excellent way to begin learning new words.
Then they use the flashcards over and over for many listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities.
With Spanish for You! kids get pictures of all the vocabulary in the book for making vocabulary flashcards like the ones pictured here.
These are some of the activities students do. You can try them too!
- Play ¿Cuál falta? (What’s missing?) – just lay out some cards, picture side up. One person closes eyes, the other takes a card away. Person then guesses what’s missing.
- Play One Hint One Guess – tape a card to someone’s back. Another person or people give one word hints until the person guesses the word. It is even better when the hints are given in Spanish!
- Play Around the World – show two students a card, picture side. The first to guess the word wins the card. If you have a large group, the first to guess moves on to challenge the next person.
- Make sentences – put vocabulary and conjugated verb flashcards together to make sentences.
- Group conjugated verb flashcards, for example, all the “I” forms together, all the “they” forms, etc. This is great for helping students see conjugating patterns. Check out my blog post on having a Verb Sorting Wall. Great tool!
